To help prevent meningitis there are 2 different kinds of vaccinations that work to prevent it and meningococcal.
People who are 55 and younger should get the vaccination MCV4 which is a meningococcal conjugate.
People over 55 should receive MPSV4 which is a meningococcal polysaccharide
People who are between the age of 11 to 18 should have MCV4 twice. Once at the age of 11 or 12 and then again at the age of 16.
REMEMBER - These vaccination are not guaranteed to work but should be given to lessen the risk of getting bacterial meningitis.
